Joey's birthday party

I had a New Years resolution to update my blog more often and so far that has fallen by the wayside. For the past two weeks I worked about 12-14 hour days. I'd start at 9am, work until 6. Take care of the family and then work again from 9pm until 1am. I was so exhausted last week. I was so glad when the stuff I coded finally got approved and was ready to go live.

That is why I haven't been updating lately. I've been working until the wee hours of the morning.

We've also been planning for Joey's birthday party. We ended up with 16 boys, 18 total if you count Joey and Justin. We had an hour in the YMCA gym and another half hour in the back room for cake, pizza and ice cream. It was a bit chaotic with 18 boys running around full of energy but I believe everyone had a nice time.  Joey had a great time and I guess that's what really matters, right?!

Justin is potty trained now. I don't remember if I wrote last that we were looking for new daycares. His daycare is a good 15 min drive one way and then another 15 minutes back. We looked around and found one that is literally 3 minutes away and a great daycare. He started the 15th of February. In order for him to go into the pre-kinder class he had to be potty trained. We went gung ho right into underwear that weekend and haven't looked back. Sure he's had a few accidents. He pooped once on the potty and then did the rest in his underwear. That was NOT fun. Then we kept working with him. The next time he went on the potty and told us all by himself! Then 5 minutes later went and loaded his underwear. Then after that he did that ONE more time (went on the potty, then his underwear) and then after, no accident. He's pooped on the potty every time since for a week now. He's had one or two pee accidents and we are still working on night training. I am soooo happy. He'll be ready to go into the prekinder class at the new school! What's even better is NO MORE PULLUPS (well except at night but still!). I am so so happy.

On that same note JOEY has had NO ACCIDENTS! THANK GOD!!!! Yes Joey is almost 6 but getting him to this point was so difficult. I thought for sure we'd have the same issues with Justin. Luckily potty training Justin has been way easier than we imagined it would be. I am so very thankful!!

SO that is our big news lately. Potty training and finally getting Justin to that point. Also I'm pretty proud of him. He's not even 3 1/2 and he's potty trained. Can you tell I am so very happy about this?!

Last night I was reading a book to Joey about seasons and it talked about at the end of the season a baby animal leaves his parents because he knows how to take care of himself. I told him when he's about 18 or so he'll leave his mommy and daddy and go to college. I told him eventually everyone grows up and moves away. His lip started to tremble and he started to cry. I didn't say it to upset him, just wanted to talk to him about the cycle of life. I know when he's 18 he won't remember this day but it made me feel really loved and happy. I'm so glad my little guy loves his mommy!

Justin has been getting up at night about 5 times just because he can stall. Most of his excuses are he has to pee, he has to pee again, he has to poop, he is thirsty and so on. It's getting a bit annoying. We are trying to work with it.

FB: Joey's birthday party is today. He is soooooo excited!! :)

Whew. 18 boys ages 5-7 running around a gym and then very very hungry and asking for all sorts of food at Joey's birthday party and trying to feed them as quickly as possible. I am completely beat! I had a deer in the headlights look after the party. That is more of a workout than Zumba! :)

Growing Up....

FB: I was reading to Joey tonight about seasons and it talked about how animals leave their parents at the end of the season when they can take care of themselves. I explained when he is older and about 18 he'll go off the college and leave us. Joey started to CRY! I felt so bad, but at the same time, I'm recording this mo...ment for when he DOES want to go away when he's older! It's good to feel wanted. ♥

Couch Surgeon

FB: As a mom, I have a new title under my belt: couch surgeon. Last night Justin lost Sally the car in the couch. She was lost UNDER the springs in the bottom. Joe and I tossed the couch on it's back, I pulled out the fabric and dug in the couch and found a lost lightening McQueen, 2 game pieces, two micro machines and Sally was rescued from down in the couch arm. LMBO. ♥

FB: 65 and going to the park again with the boys before the sun sets. Found Justin a new daycare. He tried it out today and was very happy.

Lazy days...

Yesterday we actually got a lot done. We went to the park because it was a nice day out and near 60 degrees - wonderful for January.

Afterward we got home and we ended up picking up the entire house AND taking down all the Christmas stuff. I couldn't believe it. Last weekend on Sunday when we did our cleaning it took HOURS. It seemed like so much was out of place. This weekend it took about 30 minutes max. It was great.

The Christmas stuff didn't take long to take down either. Joey helped me and earned extra allowance money for helping out extra around the house. It was sad to watch the Christmas decorations go away for another year. We really liked seeing the staircase lit up and the formal tree lit up all pretty in the front room.

Today was MLK day so Joe and I had the day off. We were invited to drop the kids off at the new daycare so we could try it out. We dropped them off shortly after 9am this morning and they were happy to go.

I came home and was NOT in a good mood today. I should have been in a good mood. I had the day to myself. The kids were at daycare and I could do whatever I wanted but I was just in a poor mood. I don't know what my deal was.

Joe and I went to Genghris Grill for lunch. It's like a mongolian bbq place where you pick the meat, sauce and veggies and they cook it for you. It was good and we would definitely go back. We had a buy one get one free bowl so that helped too.

After we came home and I took a nap. I am 31 and still can't give up my naps. I guess if the kids need a daily recharge, then so do I!!

When I woke up we decided to go get the kids. It was around 3:30. The kids had a good time. We are going to put down the deposit for Justin tomorrow.

This evening we went to the park again. It was 64 today and windy so it felt a bit chillier. Joe was pushing Justin on the swing and doing an under dog and accidentally caught Justin by the foot and he fell off the swing. Joe felt so so bad. Justin cried but luckily there was very soft wood chips on the ground and he was fine. Not even a scratch luckily!

These were taken today with my cell phone.

When we got home Joey and I worked on his student of the week poster. We printed out multiple photos and used my cricut letter cutter and and a few stickers. It turned out really nice. I need to take a photo of him with it.

That was about it. Potty training is going ok. Justin pooped once on the potty on Sunday. Then he pooped his underwear that afternoon. He has had no pee accidents but pooped his underwear again today and lost his new Sally the car (from the Car's movie) that we got home this weekend. I hope he can figure this out soon :(

Potty Training

FB: Potty training going great! Going to the park to play. It is near 60. Great park day!

I'm a slacker!!

I had the best intentions to post in my blog every day - I really did. But what I didn't anticipate was that I would be doing a conversion for work in which I was working until midnight or 1am from Tuesday - Friday! That was pretty much the deal breaker on me updating daily. I was exhausted and putting a lot of energy into working.

We are looking for a new daycare for Justin. We toured a Montessori in the area and we weren't too impressed. It looked like the kids just weren't having fun. They were doing really cool stuff for learning, but at age 3 I want my son to also have fun. We then were referred to another school across the street and we loved it. Justin and Joey loved it too and we had to literally rip them out of there. They are going for a free day on Monday! We are looking for a new daycare because I'm just sick of the drive all the way out to his current daycare and frankly, I'm tired of spending as much as we do for his childcare. It's so expensive it's not funny. Let's just say we are paying over $1000 a month. Yeah, ouch. I think he's at the point now where he can fit in just fine in a preschool class and let us know if there is anything wrong.

Sooo in order for him to go into the prekinder class and not into the preschool class at the new school Justin has to be completely potty trained. So the past two days we cold turkey put him in underwear. Yesterday he had no accidents. Today he had two potty accidents. The part that concerns me is he hasn't pooped in two days and he is normally pretty regular (like twice a day, every day). I'm afraid maybe we are pushing him too early but at the same time I don't want to miss a window of opportunity to potty train him, especially if it means he can go into the advanced class at this new school. I think he would be bored in the other class but they would work with him on potty training if that was the case. I guess we'll see.

Yesterday I went out with a friend I've known since grade school. She was in town for a class and so we met at the outlet malls near my house and I drove her out to La Hacienda Ranch, which is a tex mex restaurant. We had a fantastic time. Talked like we've known each other for year. It was so nice to get out and have a good time with a girlfriend! Afterwards we went shopping at the outlet mall and both her and I got columbia fleece jackets. I love it. It's so soft and cozy.

Today Joey had a birthday party and that went from around 11am to 2pm. It was a lot of fun. It was at a bowling alley and Joey did really good bowling for his first time. They had bumpers. The first part of the game he used this metal ramp to help the ball down and then I convinced his entire team to just throw the ball down the lane and they all started to do better, I think because they were throwing it harder then it came down the ramp. Joey won the first game, just barely! The last frame he threw a spare and got an extra frame! He beat CJ by two pins. The the second game his friend Riley was the winner.

The last few weeks Texas went through a deep freeze. We had one day it was -5 to 0 windchill in the morning! This past week it finally warmed up to the 50s. Next week we are looking at high 60s - in JANUARY! I love this warm weather! We also have had our first rain in a few weeks so I got to test out my wireless rain gauge. It has an alarm on it and beep when it starts raining. It also measure the amount of rain we got. We got .15 inches from the latest rain storm. I think that is so neat. I swear I am the biggest weather geek! Joe would actually say I'm the biggest GEEK :)

Tomorrow is clean the house day and take down the rest of the Christmas stuff. What fun! Actually I'm not really looking forward to it. It's much more fun to put the tree up then to take it down.

Birthday Parties...Potty training

Joey had a birthday party this morning. He did great bowling and had a blast. Potty training day 2 for Justin. No #2 yet. Hmmm. We found a new daycare for Justin and he starts in a month. I think it's going to be a park day tomorrow! ♥

Joey was using this to roll the bowling ball and then started to throw it himself without it.

FB: Thinking of putting Justin in a Montessori school. Anyone's kids go? Good or bad comments?
