Tonsils and Graduations

May 25th Justin went in to get his tonsils taken out. He's been having a hard time with allergy like symptoms and even after a round of antibiotics he wasn't better so I took him directly to our ENT. He looked into his throat and said his tonsils weren't just big - they were GIGANTIC. We scheduled surgery to have them removed since they were causing him to snore, possible sleep apnea and general breathing issues. He was so excited to go to the hospital and was great the entire time. They took him back and took out his tonsils, adenoids (second time since they grew back) and put tubes in his ears. They gave me a photo of his tonsils and they were literally each as big as quarters. I couldn't believe it.

The next 10 days were really rough for Justin - especially the first week after. He would wake in the middle of the night sobbing as soon as the meds wore off. The doctor said do NOT wake him up to give him his meds because he had a parent that did that to her son and the medicine made his body relax so much he stopped breathing and died! OMG! So we only gave him the pain meds when he asked thought he was on motrin every 6 hours around the clock. Finally on the 10th day he stopped asking for it. We had prescription pain meds which we gave him for two days and after that he wasn't interested in it's bad taste and preferred motrin/tylenol.

Today he is feeling great. His voice has changed a little bit but that is all. He doesn't seem to snore anymore and doesn't seem congested, which is great.

Joey graduated from kindergarten on June 3rd. I can't believe he's going to be in the 1st grade come August. The boys are growing so fast.

Today we went garage saleing and found a nice toy kitchen and got it for $10 for the boys. They've both been playing with it all day. It talks and makes noises too. What a great find, especially since it keeps them occupied.
