Joey's preschool presentation

Joe and I took the day off work (I took a few hours, Joe took the entire day) to go to Joey's art show and presentation at school.

They did this really cute presentation for us with singing and dancing. Joe was so funny, always making commentary in the middle of a song like, 'This is my favorite part', or 'I love this song'. It was so cute and funny.

He then also had his preschool graduation and received his certificate. :( My big boy is growing up!!!

Afterwards we were able to walk around the school and look at the art show they had put up for the parents. All the students have been taking art classes since the beginning of the year and painted on an actual real canvas for their end of year art project and we got to take it home. He did an awesome job! We are so proud of Joey!!

Mrs. Billie, Joey and Mrs. Rowena - his teachers.

I love how Mrs. Billie is smiling at Joey here. She is the sweetest!!

Joey and his daddy and his certificate!

Isn't that an awesome painting?! I have it hanging in my laundry room. I love it! It brightens up my space so wonderfully!

More updates...

Briana has been a bad blogger. Bad bad blogger.

Yeah, ok so hmmmm. I've been playing on facebook.

I've been immersed in these three awesome, fantastic, unable to put down, breathtaking, gotta read, you should be reading books. Got all that?

Twilight. Books for teens, then went to adults. I know people as old as my mother reading them. They are wonderfully written. It's about a girl who moves north to live with her father and find this boy that she is intrigued with but she think he hates her. He and her end up falling for each other and she finds out he's a vampire. I'm not the type to read vampire books. This is a love story and it's AMAZING. Seriously. I couldn't wait to run out and watch the MOVIE.

If you know me I do NOT watch movies - much to Joe's dismay. I think they are a waste of time and do not wish to watch them. After reading books one and two (in three days and they are 400 pages EACH!) I saw the movie at the Red Box DVD rentals and rented it and watched it that evening. I loved the movie though it was different then the book.

I read the book non-stop. I would wake early in the morning to read. I would read all evening. I would read and read and read. Joe looked and me and said, 'I have never seen you like this with a book.' I don't normally read books - I'm more of a magazine reader. These set of books are fricking amazing. I have been PUTTING OFF reading them for fear I would get hooked. All my mom friends RAVE about them. Finally my friend Vicki told me to read them and said I could borrow her books. I caved. I'm glad I did. Why did I wait so long for this wonderfulness to grace my life? Yes the book ARE that good. Don't believe me - check out the best seller list for the past few months.

Ok, I could go on about Twilight books forever - seriously. If you are bored - go get them. They are an awesome read for ANY AGE.

So that is what has taken up most of my time.

The other thing taking up our time is I quit my curves membership and the WHOLE FAMILY joined the YMCA. One of the reasons is Vicki talked me into it. We joined and love it. They have childcare for the boys and they love it. Joe shoots hoops on the basketball court and I take classes or do the eliptical. My favorite class is Zumba. It's a high paced aerobics dance to Latin music. The first time I took it my heart rate was at 180 the entire class (like I was sprinting the entire time). The second time it was easier and it's so fun. That's Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

So that's what has been going on with us!

See below on 4/11 and 4/12 for the latest updates - Easter!

Quick update from us...

One of the cool things so far recently this year is that Joey can now say words and recognize what letter starts out the word. I’ve been doing spreadsheets with him and from a book and he has to look at each object and see if the object starts with the letter on the sheet. He’s doing really great with it.

Joey has started T ball again this year. They get three pitches and then they go ahead and hit off the tee. Joey is doing ok. He’s bored a lot of the time and doesn’t always pay attention. I did the same thing when I was his age in t-ball so I can’t get too upset at him.

We got some nice rain for Easter. Last week we actually could SMELL and see the smoke from the fires in Texas. It was so weird going outside and smelling what seemed like burning leaves. That night the sunset was so hazy. I’ve never experienced anything like it, and from what I was told, the fires were over 100 miles away!

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny came during the wee hours of the morning and hid eggs all over the living room and the formal living room, dining room and hallway.

In the morning the cat decided she didn't care if there was an egg on the top of the couch, that was HER sleeping spot and proceeded to sleep on it, like she laid an egg. Silly Sasha!

Justin was the first to wake up and walk in our room. He came in and exclaimed, 'Mom, look an EGG' and opened it and proceeded to eat the candy inside. He soon realized that there may be more like that and candy first thing in the morning was a grand thing, so he ran back out of our bedroom to find another.

I figured we better get up and make sure Joey is up before Justin cleaned house. I had to keep them sane while Joe took his shower, and then I gave them each a bucket and we let them loose in the house.

Justin gave Joey a run for his money. I thought I would have to HELP Justin. Yeah right. Justin found all these eggs mostly by himself. I was surprised being his is only two. I don't remember Joey getting the whole egg hunt thing until much older.

Sasha laid an egg.

See all the hidden eggs?

Joey found one in the table!

Joey got quite a full bucket.

Justin gave Joey a run for his money - nevermind he's only TWO!

Their eggs full of candy, money and toys.

The easter bunny brought the kids MORE!

Easter bunny loot

The Easter bunny brought Joey this Matchbox set.

Easter bunny loot.

We have 'chicken' jokes in this house. What's up, Chicken butt. Stuff like that. So the easter bunny brought me an 'Easter chicken'. HAHAHAHA!~~

Justin enjoys eating the EYE first.

What part of the bunny do YOU eat first?

What part of the chocolate bunny do YOU eat first?

For Joey it's the ears!

Justin got a truck that carries a helicopter from the Easter Bunny.

Well look at THAT - the Easter bunny came to our house to visit.

My beautiful boys! Ready for church!

Easter Service

I took the kids to Easter service at church. We all enjoyed ourselves.

Me dressed up for church.

This is the first turkey I've ever made. I used my mom's recipe and it turned out SOOO good. I used my turkey roaster Joe's mom got me for Christmas 2 years ago. It turned out PERFECT. Yeah, I know you are supposed to have ham but we had turkey - so there! :)

The beautiful bird!

Coloring Eggs

Every year I look forward anxiously to Easter Egg coloring. Why? I guess it makes me feel a bit like a kid again - there's nothing wrong with that!

Every year I have to look up how to hard boil eggs. I know you can't just throw them in a pot of water and boil them. There is actually a 'right' way to do it. I must have done it right because the eggs came out beautifully.

The eggs turned out nice and dyed bright this year. Joey helped me. Justin would have rather done anything else. Joey was very careful about pulling the eggs in and out and turning them to get even color. He did accidentally drop a few, but overall he did a great job.

Our eggs. So beautiful.

Bluebonnet Photo Shoot

On Saturday evening we drove out to Richardson to a field of bluebonnets. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought it was this massive or beautiful.

As soon as you stepped out of the van you could smell the beautiful purple flowers. It was wonderful. The boys had a blast running back and forth through the fields. We got wonderful photos.

BTW Joey has a booboo on his head because he fell on the neighbor's trampoline and scraped it up.

Here's a flower for you mom!
